You know, everyone who's sarcastic and saying Detroit, I have to say that I live about a half-hour away from Detroit and yes, aside from some of the more unsavory places (Cass Corridor for one, lock your doors and try not to attract attention), it's scary in a creepy way too. There are SO many beautiful and (in my opinion, probably haunted) run down abandoned buildings and houses all over the city.

So, I went to Romania in the winter last year when I studied abroad in Germany.  I travelled the little villages in the dead of winter amongst the dark snow-capped peaks of the Carpathians.  It's changed very little in hundreds of years; sure, people have tvs, but the legends are alive.  I remember watching the dark, blood-red sunset and thinking about all those vampire legends.  It's a pretty scary place.  It seemed like there was a perpetual storm cloud over the place.  But nice people :)

    Other than that, I'd say Harlem and Detroit.
