stepped over the line( giving it a no-ball). No ball takes

precedence over a wide when both happen.

Well the ball pitching outside the pitch is straight away called a wide delivery or ball as per Cricket rules. There are difference between wide & no ball, that is first when the bowler crosses the line while throwing the ball then it is a no ball & secondly when he throws the ball outside the pitch then it is a wide ball.
