Whether technical skills are important or management skills ?

Having acquired techncal skill, one learns to 'manage' his work later or sooner. Reverse is not possible. Being manager, an ego prevents from learning technical features, so you remain biased all your life. In industril working, I have seen several managers who are in the position because of inheritance, ex-army status, or something like that , work purely on the basis of little knowledge they have. Mainly they work by statistics, figures(not facts), information fed(remember, it is fed and not acquired) to them.

    It will be like 100 storeyed building on loose sand.

    To-day is an age of value addition. You have to add something to your profession. The dangerous trend of statistical control will land the company no where.

   We are seeing the management of engg colleges in private sector where the admission committee memebers are not even high school passed. They 'manage' the colleges by one method - pay least to faculty, take max donation from students.

    The news paper tells us sinking of banks once in a month, reason poor management.

     I personally feel a strong professional skill is above all.

any of one can get you a good job in respective fields. If you have both the skills then i just say SKY IS THE LIMIT

both compliment each other.

a manger having technical skills is far more superior than a manager having no technical skills.he would be able to understand the technical aspects better than a non technical manager specially ones in IT MNCs.anyways it has become mandatory for managers to have basic technical knowledge.

on the other hand a technical professional having good management skills has a great scope of outshinig his team members by displaying his leadership skills etc and may even result in fast promotion or upraisals
