  1. Definitely the Denon 5805. With the amount of hdmi ports and digital audio in, you would not have to upgrade for a long time. Denon as a brand is also one of the best. This denon will blow every other system out of the water with its 170 watts per channel. Make sure to get some great speakers with this too such as martin logan's or maybe some vienna acoustics.

  2. I prefer Onkyo 605 model i have on it is great

  3. can you update your question? what are you planning on using it for. they all have qualities but depending on how you plan to use it depends on which is better

  4. Depends on your setup. Despite what one previous post said, the Denon will not "blow away" all the others. It depends on what speakers you have, their efficiency, tonal balance and room size. Posting more information such as what speakers you have will be helpful. I've done setups where the HK was obviously better than the Denon and vise versa.

Also, when you are into the price range of some of the upper end receivers, you have to start thinking about separates. Something like an Onkyo Pro PR-SC885P pre/processor with a good amplifier setup will often outperform the best receiver...primarily because the preamp power supply is more optimized for the preamp stage and also because you can get far more specific in matching your amps to your speakers (not one size fits all).
