Which American Girl doll should I buy my daughter?

Question

I am deciding which doll(s) I should buy my daughter. I'm between a retired doll or a Just Like You doll. I've found that many of the Just Like Yous are similiar to the retired dolls and I can't decide between rarity or budget.

Should I get her the one that's older and scarce, but more expensive, or the one that's alike in looks and is still available and cheaper?

The Just Like Yous aren't completely similiar, but my daughter wouldn't mind and she doesn't care if she gets a retired or regular..I just have doubts because I feel like I should snag a retired one now.

Any help?

well, i would say a just like you, they can look like whatever you want :)

Umm . . .  I had a just like you doll when I was younger, and I was a bit mad, because it didn't look like me. I wanted a doll with a history, because it's more exciting to learn about the time period this doll was (supposively) from, and to read her series and to get things that  belonged with her.

I would go with one of the historic dolls. I think that most girls appreciate it more. Read up on some of the history of the dolls, and pick one that you think your daughter would be most interested it.

The just like you dolls are cool.  But the Felicity doll is really cute and I bet your daughter would like it.

Well personally if I had the money I would get a retired doll.  You never know in the future how much they'll be worth.  I loved the American Doll series when I was a young girl.  An elderly neighbor of mine had one and would let me play with her.  I loved visiting and playing with the doll.  As I got older I started reading the books and was intrigued.  I just think that the retired one would be for me if I had the money to buy it, but the newer ones are cute too.

I LOVE THE SAMANTHA DOLLS. i would get a retired 1 because even though they are more expensive, that def. will last longer cuz they're made so  much better, plus they're ageless classics.
