30 years ago, it looked like a small town in Calif.

probably not any more.

however, you might consider what kinds of jobs are available.

what part of Maui?

hotels?

old town?

out of town?

there's certainly major differences.

mostly i liked old town/out of town.

there still are towns in the sierra foothills that look like that.

and it is pretty country.

i expect the same is true in Oregon and Washington as well.

on the other hand, any "city" won't have that flavor.
