Which Animal Shelter Should I Volunteer At?

My older sister and I are volunteering at an animal shelter. We found two that were close to us and accepted younger volunteers such as myself, as long as I'm with a thirteen year old and older to supervise me.

Animal Friends Humane Society-

The mission of Animal Friends Humane Society (AFHS) is to promote humane principles, to protect lost, homeless, mistreated animals, and to act as an advocate for animals in the community. The shelter reunites owners with their lost pets and adopts dogs and cats.

Humane Society Of Greater Dayton-

The Humane Society works in and around Dayton, Ohio to ensure proper treatment for all animals. We find caring homes for unwanted animals, and provide the local community with education programs that can reduce the number of unwanted and mistreated animals. We work with all kinds of animals, but we primarily see cats and dogs.

I have 2 jobs, and I work 6-7 days a week, as well as being a high school student and I volunteer with 4 different organizations: my local SPCA, Beagle Rescue, Racing Greyhound Rescue, and the Humane Society of the United States.  I have straight A's and I do sports on the side.....

So, I think that you would have more than enough time to volunteer with both, maybe even a third one.  Its great that you want to volunteer.

But if you have to pick one, and can't do both, I would actualy visit their facility/shelter because the website only says so much about them.  Before you start to volunteer, go visit them and you will get a better idea of which one to pick, this visit will make a BIG difference in your choice.

Just by looking at the website, MY personal choice would be the first one (Animal Friends Humane Society), just because the website looks more friendly.
