Which Army helicopters do the warrant officers fly, and which ones do the commissioned officers fly?

how are aerospace vehicles selected for the pilot? Regarding rank or scores or what?

Army Warrant Officers fly all the helo's in the US Army's inventory.

Traditionally, Warrant Officers pilot rotary wing aircraft in the Army/Army Reserve/Army NG.

The few fixed-wing Army aircraft are always flown by commissioned officers.

I don't know the history of this tradition and I would be interested to know why officers without a Congressional commission can fly helicopters but not airplanes.

all army aircraft, fixed and rotory wing, are flown by both warrant and commissioned officers. far more warrant officers on both categories. for commissioned officers in the army, flying jobs are alway temporary and part time as their branch, artillery, infantry, armor etc., requires that those disciplines be their main career focus. commissions fly only so a few will be capable of commanding aviation units assigned to their commissioned branch.  in fact, it is rare to find a major or colonal as pilot in command of an army aircraft. in the cockpit, they are most often supbordinant to a warrant officer pic.

warrant officer aviators on the other hand, have military occupational specialties, MOS, as either fixed wing aviator, rotorywing aviator or both.

Either commissioned or warrant officers can fly either type.  The main differences is that a commissioned officer also takes on additional command responsibilities.   (Platoon leader, Company Commander etc, etc).  

The warrant officer's primary duties focus on flying and other non-command responsibilities.  (Supply / maintenance / logistics)

Once they're in the cockpit there is no difference.
