Which Asian countries use chopsticks originally?

Question

I know in China and Japan, people eat regularly with chopsticks but what about other Asian countries such as Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Singapore, Indonesia, Tibet, Philippines......

I am not talking about getting chopsticks in the restaurant, they pass those out everywhere like candy.

I am Indian so I know that the Indian subcontinent (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh & Sri Laka) does not use chopsticks!

Koreans use chopsticks.

I don't know about the countries in Southeast Asia.  My Vietnamese roommate in College used chopsticks, but Vietnam has many Chinese influences.

Philipines - No

Thailand ??? tempted to say NO

Malaysia ??? tempted to say NO

Loas ??? tempted to say NO

Cambodia ??? tempted to say NO

Sinapore - maybe due to the large Chinese influence.

Indonesia ??? tempted to say NO

Tibet ??? This one is a maybe since China annexed Tibet.

If they have a large Chinese influence, the there is a high chance that chopstics are used.  However, I believe that the native (aboriginal) inhabitants do not.

I don't know who used them originally, but I do know that several millenia ago the servants used to carry ivory chopsticks for their lords. The ivory was used to test the food to determine if it was safe to eat. Poisoned food would turn the ivory black.

I think chopsticks are most commonly used in Japan, Korea, China and also in Vietnam.  In Singapore we use them to eat Chinese food but not for Indian or Malay dishes.

Chopsticks were invented by the Chinese around the third century BC.  Their use was widely advocated by the famous philosopher, Confucius, whose belief in non-violence found that knives and forks, with their association with war and violence, should be inappropriate at the dinner table, a place usually reserved for friends and family.

As imperial China gained regional clout, its influence spread throughout much of Asia.  Countries such as Japan and Korea began paying tribute to the emporer and adopting  Chinese customs and systems such as Chinese writing. (Many of these countries have since come up with their own written languages, but Chinese influence is still evident in older records and works of art) It is through this exchange that the use of chopsticks spread.  

Throughout history, many Asian countries have been occupied and colonized by the west during the age of imperialism.  As occupying forces implemented their own cultures and civil structures, the use of forks, knives, and spoons gained popularity as well.  The end result is an Asian continent that is mixed between using chopsticks, forks and knives, and forks and spoons.  Although with the mixing of cultures in many of these countries, it sometimes just becomes a matter of preference.

wee! i love using chopsticks. they're sleek and convenient to use. and (for me) more hygienic. whenever i eat sushi and the like, i use chopsticks.. i'm addicted to chopstickable dishes. now i'm hungry. i'm imagining a california roll right now. ooh, yum yum yum!
