Question:

Which BMX should I buy?

I want to get into street/park BMX riding and really need help chosing a bike. I have a really tight budget and can't afford more than £140 on an entry level BMX =(

I've had a BMX before which was extremely cheap and VERY heavy! I found it really difficult to have control over it.

I found two bikes which are in my price range and need help in knowing if they really are decent bikes or not:

and

Are either of these bikes going to be lightweight enough for me? (as a short girl)

Please help me!

  1. Have a look at these there good for the money

the best out of the 3 i picked is the second one and just £10 more

  2. Both seem to be good bikes,

I would choose the redline as i think certain parts are stronger so if you do give it punishment its last (hopefully)

The axles are bigger on the redline

The bottom bracket spindle is cromoly which is stronger

The forks have cromoly steerer which is stronger,

So the redline has certain parts which will not bend or snap as easy.

Redline to me have a better name from back in the day.

But if pinks your colour... :-)

  3. the second one if your are looking to do tricks probably light enough for you

  4. I currently have a heavy BMX bike too and i handle it like its my b*tch. I say you go for the Redline. Way better and way more reliable.

  5. You really need to be looking at strength for street riding - concrete is hard. I bought a bike from winstanley's by mail order and had my bank account ripped off straight after so I wouldn't buy from them again or recommend anybody else to buy from them. But if you can order safely from them on the internet or buy in the shop, they have some of the best deals around.

When I researched BMXs, the best value I found was this model. The spec is awesome for the price - full cro-moly frame and forks + 3 piece cranks. It's only £50 (save your pennies!!!) more expensive than your budget and is a way better bike.

Weight is a penalty but all strong bikes weigh a bit more. Riding a BMX requires a bit of strength but don't worry, the more you ride - the stronger you'll get. i doubt the rogue will be any heavier than a redline.

If Winstanley's is around the corner from you, buy a rogue there, it's an excellent deal. If not, buy via the internet if the checkout page is secure. DO NOT order the bike over the phone or give bank details over the phone.

Really you should always feel how heavy a bike is before buying. Most decent BMXs are around 40lb (18.2 kg) in weight. Good luck with it.
