  1. The heaviest bear recorded (2500 lb) was a grizzly. The kodiak (same species as grizzly but different subspecies) is the tallest. Polar bear may or may not be the longest and heaviest on the average; it depends on who you believe. I've seen two opinions on the same web page!

  2. It is the Polar bear, I would love to hug one but I don't think it would be a very clever idea.

  3. Polar Bear without a shadow of doubt! One of the most feared predators around!

  4. Well according to wikipedia, the Polar Bear is the largest predator found on land, so it must be the Polar Bear.

  5. The grizzly bear (Ursus arctos horribilis) is a subspecies of brown bear (Ursus arctos). The largest brown bear subspecies, the Kodiak bear (Ursus arctos middendorfi), rivals the polar bear (Ursus maritimus) in terms of weight. However, the polar bear can measure 11 feet long, whilst brown bears are only recorded measuring up to 9 and three-quarters feet.

  6. Polar bears are very ferocious, and kill whales for food. Brown bears and polar bears are thought to be rivals in size, though the polars are heavier.

  7. Really not sure as I haven't stood next to a grizzly. I have a polar bear though. There used to be a stuffed one inside the terminal of Anchorage Airport Alaska. It was standing up and had to be 8ft+ tall

  8. polar bears can be up to 15 foot tall when stood on hine legs they are massive

  9. The largest Brown Bears are called Kodiak Bears (though I'm not sure if they count as separate from Grizzlies).  On average, Polar Bears are larger than Brown Bears.  However, the largest individual bears ever found were Kodiak Bears.
