I am currently on the Depo shot and Idk if I liek it. I am 16 (17 in two months) so I would like to look at other options but I am forgetful and wouldn't want to forget to take the pill and such. I don't know if I will be sexually active for awhile but I would like to be responsible and prepared in case I do have s*x, so I won't be stuck in a tough situation. What would you reccomend?! I don't want anything surgically put inside me, but anything other than that is ok!

Thanks!

  1. In response to all the people that said Mirena--- Im on it and from everything Ive heard, youre supposed to have ha one baby before you can have the Mirena.

Ok, now on to you honey-- DONT HAVE s*x!!!!! I was 18 when I had my first baby (married when I had my 2nd). It was the HARDEST couple of years EVER as a single mom!!! I was on the pill and it failed. You have no idea how much I wish now that I would have waited for my husband (of course I love my daughter, but thats not what Im talking about right now).

Im not going to totally disrespect you and all that, but seriously look at what you could lose by having a baby or contracting a disease. I was supposed to go into the army and have an AWESOME career. Having a baby put ALL that on hold. Now Im 26 with 2 kids and absolutely no career. I feel very stuck, even though I love my family and all that. Im telling you, I was a straight A student, no drugs, varsity softball all 4 years of high school, SOOO responsible... The last person anyone thought would get pregnant. I was with my boyfriend for a year before we split up. And 2 weeks later I found out I was pregnant.

Anyways, just think about it. Be careful. As a previous teen mom, I feel for you.. You have no idea the love I feel for teen girls in the same situation I was in. Ohhh it was so hard.

    Have a good night hun

  2. Iron pantys with a strong lock.

  3. I agree with the post above- I'd give Mirena a try. I actually just got this put in 2 days ago because I didn't want anymore kids (I'm 28). Once you get it put in you just get cramping for less than an hour and you'll bleed like you're on your period for a week or even two weeks, then that's it. It lasts for 5 yrs. and you wont even get your periods. I'm bad at taking birth control pills myself- that's why I opted to get this. Just make sure to use condoms for protection from stds.

  4. Well we obviously all know that abstinence is the only way not to get pregnant.

However, we do know that a responsible young woman is always prepared.  Birth control has many other uses besides preventing pregnancy.  For me, I started when I was 17, due to endometriosis and pain associated with the disease. Birth control is good to reduce bleeding, keep your period regular, and with certain kinds and the approval of your doctor you can eliminate most of your periods.  I know, since I was active in sports, having a period once every three to four months was great.  I would suggest the Nuva Ring, you do vaginally insert it once a month and remove it at the end of the month.  You do have to feel comfortable with your body, however I have never "lost" the ring.  I don't feel it most of the time.  Sometimes it moves down you just take a finger and push it back up.  I have never had it go in and not be able to remove it. I found that the ring was easier to keep up with compared to a pill form.

If you are or become sexually active, use a condom in conjunction with a hormonal BC.  It is very common to get a STD if you are not protected.

Good job for thinking ahead and preparing yourself to make good decisions.

  5. The best kind of birth control is a penny between the legs...keep it there...just don't be active. You're still far too young.

  6. abstainance sounds good ;)

okay I don't know alot about birth control because I have 4 kids LOL and my husband had a vasectomy after our last. Seriously, I would suggest the pill and finding a way to remember. Keep it somewhere you will see it for sure every day.

No matter which birth control you choose, remember you need condoms as well to prevent diseases!

  7. I recommend sticking with the depo shot. As a teenager, it's waaay too easy to forget taking the pill (I forgot to take mine more than a couple times at that age just because I was a spacy teenager).

The other two options that you don't have to remember every day are the patch and NuvaRing. I think you can find more info on every available birth control on Planned Parenthood's website. Try checking that out and decide which one fits your lifestyle best.

  8. Carefully place an aspirin between your knees.  Hold until you are an adult capable of taking on all the possible outcomes of having s*x.

  9. i use this thing call " abstinence " ever heard of it you shouldnt be having s*x when your 16.

  10. first of all just ignore all the people who will criticize you for wanting to be on birth control. you seem really responsible and it's smart that you want to be prepared before you start having s*x. definitely don't rush into it, wait for the right person that you're comfortable with and love, and you'll be fine.

to ur question...i was on the patch for a couple years and it was ok but it was irritating my skin some and it's hard to hide especially in a swim suite. plus there are more risks involved with the patch. sooo i started on nuvaring about 4 months ago and love it! definitely go to your doctor and get more info about it and their website is good.  but a little info in case you aren't familiar at all: it's a small plastic, bendable ring that you insert into your v****a. sounds kinda weird, i know lol but i swear you can't even feel it and it's easy to take in and out. it's not a barrier method like the sponge or anything, it's hormonal birth control just like the pill. you put a ring in and leave it in for 3 weeks and then take it out for one week to have your period...then put in a new one for 3 weeks then take it out, etc.

if you have any other questions feel free to email me, i'm sure i'm forgetting some important stuff lol  but bottom line, it's an easy birth control that you don't have to worry about every day. that was the most important thing for me!

  11. Both Condoms and spermicide as well as maybe the patch?

  12. Keep your legs together.....

16 years old is too young to be having s*x.

  13. Nuva Ring

  14. you know what she is just trying to be protected i think you are doing a great job. She trying to be prepared i'm only 13 and i know not to leave it up to the guy. Since i am 13 i have no clue but it's great that  you know what to do when the times comes. and she can have s*x when she wants to god!

  15. NO s*x!! YOUR TOO YOUNG!!

CONCENTRATE ON SCHOOL AND FRIENDS! GEEZ!

  16. Well first think about being pure and if you change your mind instead of poppin pills you should were some electric locked underwear then you wont have to worry about s*x till your married:)

  17. mirena..my friend got it and as soon as i have my second (4 months pregnant) i am getting it..they just put it in no pain nothing and there you go for 5 years..i highly recommend it

  18. no s*x at all

i went with the shot it work best for me

  19. why on earth use all those chemicals on your body when you are not in a relationship even?

you seem to think that s*x just 'happens' when you least expect it - rather like a car accident

i think you would be better advised to come off contraception and take control of your own life and let any young man know that NO means NO - that way you wont be stuck in a tough situation against your will.

  20. Condoms!!  It keeps it cleaner "down there" (less mess, the mess is contained in the latex), and reduced the chances of an getting a STD or pregnant.

  21. If I were you, I'd try mirena.

it does have to be inserted, but you're all set for 5 years.

Personally I think it's a very responsible decision to protect yourself, even if you aren't planning on having s*x anytime soon.

With all those "rape baby" horror stories coming out these days and stories of girls who had just a few too many drinks I definitely think its better to be safe than sorry

  22. hi I'm 18 and i have researched birth control for my on use( don't plan to use it any time soon, but you never know)

this site can help you decide which birth control is the best for you.

it tell you the pros and cons, how to use it, side effects, and basically everything you want o know about that type of birth control. (down side: lot of reading. but it worth it)
