There are many great British Virgin Islanders that are loved by the people for the achievement and helping the BVI be what it is today.

One great BVIslander is Hon. Lavity Stoutt former chief minister of the BVI. Hon. Stoutt has brought higher education to the BVI in the form of the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College. Without his vision the BVI may not have tertiary education today.

Another local hero of the BVI Would have to be Mr. Noel Lloyd. He formed what is knows as the Positive Action Movement to oppose the development by Bates Hill Company who bought out the local owner of an island in Road Town called Wickhams Cay.  They were going to take on major development of this island as well as three quarters of Anegada. Mr. Lloyd protested to what he saw as injustice to the people of the BVI. Because of Mr. Noel Lloyd and the rest of the positive action movement Wickhams Cay is today fully reclaimed by the people of the BVI and is one of the main highlights of the country.

There are many other great people of the BVI such as Willard Wheatley, Paul Wattley, Cyril Romney and many others
