This will be my first CO2 gun. Im looking mainly for fire-power, durability and accuracy. And practicality is very important to me because i have a small backyard, also hoping to hunt small game.

  1. The Beretta sure looks nice and I've heard is a good gun. But why have you settled on CO2? Have you considered a spring air rifle? They pack more punch and don't require any cartridges.

I have a Gamo Hunter Sport air rifle. 1000 fps. Lost count of the number of ground squirrel that have met their maker because of it..

I'm actually looking into buying a CO2 air pistol for my next gun. This one caught my eye:

If it must be a choice between the two you've mentioned, I'd go for the Beretta.

  2. well nigher a 500FPS gun or a 425fps gun is really power to kill small game. depending on the kind of pellet that your using you can get the following on the 425fps gun

    400(ish) fps at 15 yards

    382(ish) fps at 25 yards

as far as fpe( ft lb of energy)

    with a 5.4 gr(PBA) .177 pellet--- thats 1.9 fpe at the 15 yards

same pellet  at 25 yards--- 1.7fpe

with a 7.9 gr domed pellet--- 2.8fpe at 15 yards

same pellet at 25 yards--- 2.5fpe

as for the 500 fps gun

    470(ish)FPS at 15 yards

    450(ish)FPS at 25 yards

    5.4 gr pellet at 15 yards--- 2.64FPE

    same pellet at 25 yards---2.4FPE

    7.9 gr pellet at 15 yards--3.87FPE

    same pellet at 25 yards--3.55FPE

some FPE'S needed to take small game

4-6 FPE to just kill a rat

    6-8FPE rabbits and squirrels

    18FPE woodchucks(groundhogs)

    20(ish) raccoon

so you would even have a hard time killing a rat with eigher of those guns

it doesnt really matter for air rifles any will do, just more FPS=more FPE which means more humain kills

  3. CO2 aye, well my first and last was A Crossman .357 six, 425 fps, i shot the h**l out of it, several thousand pellets until it no c**p died I got my 40 dollars out of it bought it back when I was around 12 it died about 19 i think, killed porcipines, birds, rabbits and snakes with it. The Berrta might be all right but I 'd say Colt maybe better and or try a airgun website for further infromation before making a descison, You will get an average of about 30 more shots in a .177 vs the .22 pellet as the .22 uses more CO2 so keep that in mind. I perfer .22 caliber pistols and rifles in a cardrige version. I'm 23 so I have been hunting small gmae for almost 14 years and love the .22 short, 22 long rifle shells both are cheep and the short sounds lik a cap gun and effective att killing small game.
