Which City Do You Think Is Better To Live In, Santa Cruz Or Pacifica ?

Santa Cruz. Hands down. I was born and grew up there until I was 14. I loved growing up there, and now that I am older I still love to go back there. There is stuff to do for all different ages and interest groups. It is known to be more of a hippie surfer town, but has definitely changed over the years. Regardless, the weather is nice and the scenery is absolutely gorgeous. There is hiking, beaches, surfing, rock climbing, the boardwalk, pacific avenue for shopping, the ugly mug for amazing coffee, some amazing restaurants (shadowbrook and the crow's nest to name a couple of the best), Big Sur, Capitola, Pleasure Point (and Pleasure Point Pizza yumm), biking... do I need to go on? As far as it being a college town... when I lived there the answer would be no. The locals actually really don't like the college students there. It is kinda of segregated between the college and the locals. UCSC is more up in the hills at the far north of SC, a little disjunct from the rest of town. I would say that it is a great place to live for a younger person, or older singles or couples... but wouldn't call it the number one spot to raise a family. The more liberal you are the more you should fit in. =)

For me it would be Santa Cruz.  Better weather, more to do.  However, if you want quick access to San Francisco, it would obviously be Pacifica.

Right, like both other said. Pacifica does have the advantage of being very close to SF. That is really the main advantage there. Santa Cruz has more Sun and a great music venue in: The Catalyst

Santa Cruz is hipper with it's student population mixed with surfer burnouts and wacky intellectuals.

Pacifica is a blue collar surf town.

Depends upon what youre into...

Santa Cruz has better weather and I would describe it as a more college-like town - lots of young people, lots of fun stuff to do. Pacifica, on the other hand, is small, constantly foggy, and has little entertainment within the city.

Personally, Id choose Santa Cruz.
