Brian Campbell or Brooks Orpik. Both are UFA's come July 1st and both are collectly quite a bit of attention.

Brian Campbell is widely known throughout the NHL already, but Brooksie has been making a name for himself.

Now these two men are without a doubt my two favorite defenceman in the NHL; now today I was asked to pick one, and I realized I couldn't make up my mind.

I want to see your opinion.

  1. BROOKS ORPIK - he is AMAZING with Gonchar, even CBC agreed.

He is always there when Gonchar needs him and they are perfect with making plays.

I love Orpik, the guy is amazing, more amazing then Whitney.

  2. I would take Orpik he is getting better known and a very solid defense men. Brian campbell just never really made me happy he wasn't anything the Thrashers need anyways so Orpik all the way. I would love to pick him up for the thrashers heh :)

    PS I like hitters rofl

  3. Campbell, for a low scoring team like the devils a d-man with offense instinct like Campbell (in the mold of Neidermayer and rafalski, both lost as UFAs and won cups elsewhere) would be a major shot in the arm.

  4. Brian Campbell

  5. Honestly i would love to have Campbell back in Buffalo but that is very unlikely that he would come back Campbell was always fun to watch here in Buffalo and when he left so did the PP so i think Buffalo could use him back

But on the other hand it would be cool for Buffalo to get Brooks since he is from the Buffalo area and then maybe after his brother Andrew leaves Boston College and signs with Buffalo we could have both of the Orpiks  haha

    sounds good right

  6. Brian Campbell.

  7. <

    Enough Said.

  8. Orpik

  9. I would take Campbell, but realistically, he is going to sign with a team that can afford him and give him a shot at winning a Cup.  Campbell said he wanted to test the waters. Orpik will be a nice addition at a cheaper price. Both teams have so many RFA and UFA's it will be interesting to see what happens.

  10. The answer to your question depends on a couple factors. First, what is the makeup of your current blueliners? Are they a good skating bunch with lots of offensive potential or are they a stay at home hard hitting group. Do you base your team concept on d stepping into passing lanes to create offense or get dirty on the boards to move the puck. The better skating offensive player with skill is easily Campbell and he plays a responsible defensive game as well so if I had the cap room he is my guy. But if I am a bit short on cap space and want a physical presence who can hand a guys a** to him if he decides to work around the net then I have no problem with Orpik. The biggest diffence between these 2 going into free agency will be dollars....millions of them....Campbell likely gets 5 years and around 30 mill while Orpik likely see's offers in the 3 year 8.5 to 10 mill. range. Offensive blueliners who play a good 2 way game get the cash.

  11. i'd want campbell, Orpik is a little too agressive i mean if we were talking adding him to the caps lineup then i'd go for campbell becuase we already we have people that fill brooks's role.

  12. **** Orpik,he ruined my glory of NY beating the Pens.**** Hal Gill too.LOL

Lets go Campbell!Sign with the Rangers!

  13. SORRY! But Orpik isnt even in the same Class as Campbell!

But those 2 as a pair would be a good tandem! They would complement each other with their styles.

  14. personnally id take campbell...hes respsible in his own end and he puts up big numbers. h**l probly go for more money though so if your tight with cap space you might have to go with orpik. But your definatly right. Orpik is a very good player too.

  15. I was really impressed with Orpik in the finals. I'll take him. He'll fit in nicely with our young D core.

  16. Not only is Brian Campbell better offensively, as a puck-moving defenseman, he's solid defensively, and I don't think anyone should doubt his physical game: [INSERT YouTube link of Campbell trucking Umberger here. LOL. It won't let me post links!]

Sorry Kate, but making a name for yourself means you still have to prove you're even solid! Campbell has already proved that and then some. So Campbell is the wiser decision at this point. Look what he did for the San Jose Sharks. They went on a tear when they acquired him.

  17. I'd take Campbell. He's a Lidstrom in the making.

  18. I'd have to go w/ Campbell. Orpik played great in the SC series, but doesn't have the history yet.

  19. Brian Campbell is a much better player, and the Avs do need a puck-moving defenseman, I would rather have Campbell.

But boy oh boy, Brooks Orpik sure can dish it out. Remember that shift vs. the Wings, where he had like, 4 hits in 15 seconds? That shift was composed entirely of Free Candy: http://bp1.blogger.com/_fw7iF68JR8k/R99e...
