  1. Of the three you listed the Nikon and Canon have the most lenses and accessories. All the models have inexpensive lenses that you can use, but you might compromise IQ using them. All are reliable if you don't get a lemon.

  2. All 3 cameras are good choices. However, IMO, the A350 wins out due to having Super Steady Shot (Sony's name for Image Stabilization/Vibration Reduction) in the camera body. Therefore, any lens you use will have that benefit. Canon and Nikon both offer a few lenses with IS/VR and charge you more for them.

If you go to http://www.shutterbug.com and type 'sony a350'  in the Search box you can read a review of the A200, A300 & A350. It was in the Aug. 2008 issue.

Also, remember that every legacy Minolta Maxxum AF lens made since 1985 is compatible with the Sony DSLR line.

  3. How thick is your wallet?

If you can afford it, go to D80. I will even suggest their newest and greatest D200, but it is a bit on the pricey side.

All others you are looking at are also good, but stay with tried and true. The recent Nikons. They kick @$s.
