Well I was looking at a degree in sociology but the more I research it the more people say it's unless. Bussine on the other hand sounds like it has countless opprtunity but I'm not really good with math. Is bussiness studies a hard degree to get? Is the classwork really hard? I just need direction because I'm not sure what I want to do with my life but I want to have a mass pool of oppuritunity with my degree. Soiciology or Busssiness?

  1. Hey there, I am a business major about to graduate in december.... and I suck at MATH! So dont worry about it! You just got to get through the classes and most colleges have free tutors that will help you get through. Business is not all about counting and using calculators like most people think... not at all! And your goal doesnt specifically have to be owning  a business.   Class work for business majors is not that hard, tho accountings can be a drag for some  because the books are huge depending on the teacher you will survive!  I had a  bad teacher and then I withdraw and took it with a great teacher and liked it!  Its not all about countings and huge data sheets, it takes analizing, planning, etc etc.    Dont freak out! You can start in college as an undeclared. Take a class in business, and a class in sociology so you have a better grab at it.  You can start by taking common cores and a course for socio and a simple course in business.  Also, most schools allow you to do a double major (you can finish your degree with a bachelors in business and sociology) or a minor.  I particularly did mine in Business with a concentration in marketing and a minor in communications.  Tho, I was just like you when I started, I liked everything and it was hard to choose.  Atleast you have an idea! Most people I know have absolutely NO CLUE!

Good Luck!  Hope I helped in some way!

  2. While a business degree has a proven track record of being more lucrative, I firmly believe one should do what they're passionate about and the money will follow. That being qualified, there is no reason why one cannot follow their passion AND set themselves up to be financially secure at the same time. Have you considered earning dual degrees in sociology and business? If you are unable to follow up with graduate studies (necessary if one plans to work in the field of sociology), you'll have a business degree to fall back upon. Just food for thought for you. Good luck.

  3. studying isn't hard as long as you have the determination...

know your interest and your abilities...

you'll succeed with whatever degree you'll pursue as long as you continue your quest for knowledge and excellence.

  4. sociology and business degrees are 2 of the easier degrees to get.  Sociology is probably easier of the 2.  I'm not sure what a person does with a bachelors in sociology.

  5. Sociology and business are two different type of major.

Business has a lot of opportunity but on the other hand, the classwork is totally 100% hard. Well, I mean, you have to work hard to get your degree. But its totally worth it.

Sociology is not a regular degree. Its not that hard to finish your degree. But I think it's hard to find a job, unless you want to be a teacher.

I am currently in Business major. I got my BA in Japanese history and now I'm taking business as my master degree. Believe me, its hard for me to keep on the track. I'm not use with accounting and finance, but like i told you, its worth it. The first year was hard but now I'm getting use to it. I just need to work harder than anyone else.

So, if you ask me, I suggest you to go for business. There's a lot of job opportunity. And by the way, you can study sociology by yourself. You don't need a degree in order to learn new things.

    Good luck with everything.

  6. ask your self if you  want to spend your days, counting or cheking the other's work or to research. ofcourse you must, firts find a job. see on the list of jobs in your country if there are more jobs for sociologists or for bussiness... have you money for your own company? think and decide yourself. in life you have to do what you like  best. good luck.

  7. Busssiness

  8. I agree with Mr Fascinating! One should always do what they are most interested in. Personally I believe that individuals should be well rounded, this will not only make you more marketable but it will give you more scope in your career to work with. There is no reason why you cannot double major in both Business and Sociology or perhaps major in one and minor in the other.

As for your questions. Business studies isn't very difficult, it can certainly challenge you are times and the math side of it is is very basic; statistics and finite mathematics. The classwork is only as hard as you make it, if you turn up for class, take the notes and do the work, you will be just fine.

Business studies is a great foundation to build a career with, it is even more useful when used in conjunction with other social sciences such as sociology and psychology; I would highly recommend that you study them both.
