  1. I really don't think it matters. Both are gonna be smart, affectionate and stubborn.  I had a male and he was all of those things.  But, the male might tend to be a little more dominant and stubborn.

  2. It doesn't matter about gender but breeding - genetics.  Both sexes can be extremely affectionate and are all easily trainable.  I have owned Dobermans for decades and trained/trialed for many decades as well and never found a 'stubborn' one at all.   Neither make a good pet if they are not properly evaluated by a knowledgeable person and placed properly in a suitable home.  Hopefully you are not irresponsibly purchasing from the typical back yard greeder or puppy miller and have done much more homework than your post implies and know how to discern between the byber/pm and a good, knowledgeable, responsible breeder so that you don't support irresponsible breeding practices.  You need to know that various health, temperament and structural issues with this or any breed and be able to know that the breeder has evaluated their b*tch properly and sought out the best possible mate for her (rarely if EVER the convenient intact male in their backyard).  If you choose instead to simply support some ignorant byber/pm then likely you will get precisely what you don't want or need.

add:  Sorry the 'confused' supposed 'dog trainer' above is confused but not a terribly adept dog trainer if s/he believes the nonsense posted, but don't believe me, I have only owned and been training Dobermans of both sexes to multiple advanced titles for about fifty someodd years now  :)

  3. It honestly depends on the dog, every dog is different, I have a female red doberman, she is sweet, and was trained easily.

Males do tend to get larger (usually) which can lead to problems controlling them if they are not properly trained.

The best thing you can do to get a dobe that is both effeminate and trainable is find a good breeder, meet the parents (preferably both, but just seeing the mom is fine) meet the litter and question the breeder.

Also, shelters, my dobe was rescued from a shelter and I have seen many dogs in shelter since then (I volunteer)

Try contacting local shelters before you look into breeders.

    Good luck!

  4. Both can be trained to do almost anything are both will love you. Some people say that one gender is better than another, but it's your preference really. I prefer male dogs just because. I have never noticed any large differences in any of my dogs and I have owned quite a few. Males, in my experience, are more affectionate, while females are more reserved.

  5. MALE----females can be very aggressive, and more independent. they are sweet yes but the male is very loving but very smart and minds well. With alot of breeds the male is a better dog to have, for training purposes.

  6. A well bred doberman will be easy to train. Both males and females have their benefits. You'll need to speak to the breeder regarding what s/he finds most in their lines. Every line is different regarding what dogs exhibit what traits. Of those I've seen neutered males seem to be the most affectionate, laid back companions.

  7. They are both highly intelligent, affectionate, and loyal. Either s*x would make a good pet. I have never had a problem training my males or females they all love to learn and are very eager to please.
