Question:

Which Dyson Model is best for dog hair and desert dust/sand?

I've wanted a dyson for a really long time. My mother in law has the purple one and it works well but needs "blown out" once every two months or so from the ever present nevada desert dust. We're moving there in a couple weeks and I need a REALLY good vac to clean the house and furn before we move and I want one that will withstand the devilish dust and my beastly babies (GS, GS/Collie/Lab, and Chi-haha.) Is the dyson ball controlable? Does it flop all over? I think I've narrowed between D17 and D15, I think. Any suggestions would help. Ball better than regular? Both cross over between hard & carpet well? Help! Please!

  1. With mine i got a special attachment for dog hairs that works really well. I don't have a dog but a cat and it works just as well on his hairs, it is a very good model, i just love it Dyson make very good hovers and from the sound of it your mother-in-law has the same one as i have i recommend you get the same.

  2. I too have the purple one  (Dyson Absolute, DC 17 Animal). I love how it performs, how it is ergonomically made, how easy it is to empty the bin, how I don't have to worry about a belt breaking (there is no belt).

Actually I pretty much love everything about it!

I didn't really understand about it needing to be blown out (how is that done?), but I don't live in a desert climate.

I also like how I can vacuum the entire house without having to set levels. . . it automatically goes to whatever floor height you're doing.

Haven't used the Ball, looks like it would be handy.  But I don't know how it would compare to the regular. . .

    Get the Dyson!
