Which First Training Boxing Glove should I purchase??

Question

I have a brother he is 22 years old, 6'0 and 210lbs. He wants to start boxing for the very first time. He wants boxing gloves to start sparring. I want to buy boxing gloves for his birthday, Which brand and what type of glove should I buy? Gel? Hook and Lace Up? Performance? Please if people could tell their personal experiences with their very first gloves and how they feel and worked, that would be great!

you shouldnt buy any,you should use the old worn out ,stinking with sweat and stained with blood gloves they have down at gym. i dont have have an experience with first gloves but i was an amateur boxer and there was need to purchase gloves for sparring ,you should be training in a gym and they will have gloves. i will suggest you make sure boxing is for you before purchasing expensive equipment. i knew a guy at the gym i went to ,who before ever having his first real type of boxing match ,spent lots of money on boxing shoes ,trunks etc., he looked like a pro going into is first fight and promptly got his butt kicked and never returned to the ring ,wasting all that money. as big as your brother is ,he shouldnt be sparring anybody around the house or backyard whatever,he needs to find a boxing gym so it can be supervised, so no one gets hurt,and he can find out then what purchases to make. but if you have alot of money ,buy him a heavybag and a pair of bag gloves instead ,even if he doesnt decide to persue boxing competitively , pounding a heavy bag is good exercise and it looks kool hanging in your garage or basement.

This is a touchy topic because it comes down to personal preference.  Since he has never boxed your best bet would be to go with some basic lace up Everlast gloves to start with.

don't get laced gloves yet if he is just starting. for sparing it would be good to start with gloves that have an elastic band that goes over the velcro. for bag gloves there a number of options that are good. look online for these things
