I recently purchased a book that contains four of George Eliot's novels-- Adam Bede, The Mill on the Floss, Silas Marner, and Middlemarch.

Of the four, which is the best? Which one should I start out with?

  1. My pal says 'The Mill on the Floss' which I've never read. We've both read 'Silas Marner' and really enjoyed it. 'Middlemarch' is realy difficult to read; neither of us read more than 100 pages. There are too many story strands. Neither of us have read 'Adam Bede'. So we have to give 'Silas Marner' the thumbs up. Hope that helps!

  2. The Mill on the Floss is a good story because it follows the misfortunes of the Tulliver family particularly Maggie who is misunderstood

  3. "Middlemarch" is on the top 100 most read books in UK (ref. BBC). So, it must be read.
