Question:

Which Granite looks similar to White Carrera Marble?

I want to have White Carrera Marble for a kitchen. However, I've been met with a lot of resistance from several kitchen designers. I understand the limitations of the marble, but I am still very keen on it. I'd like to find a granite that looks similar to the White Carrera, to see if that would be a possibility. Does anyone know of a comparable one? I've been looking on line & at various granite/stone dealers & I can't seem to find one.

Thanks for you help.

  1. It does not exist in a granite. They are different stones, though kind of distant cousins.  The graining is so different in light colors like that that you will not find what you are looking for in a granite.  If you want something with the Carrera look, but with more durability, check out Caesarstone's Misty Carrera.  It is a quartz stone composite that has a similar look to the real marble, but with not quite as much graining.  Since it is a quartz composite/engineered stone (like Silestone), then it is non-porous and has an anti-bacterial/stain proof finish in the polished option (not so much in the honed).  You can spill a whole jug of red wine or Kool-Aid and just wipe it right up. It isn't nearly as soft as marble, so it wont etch or chip/crack as easily.  It is a rgeat alternative.  I've had many happy clients who have used it instead of Carrera Marble.  Keep in mind though, that Carrera Marble has been used as a surface for thousands of years.  It has unique properties to it that make it desirable & no matter what designers say, people still use it all the time, esp in the high end.  If you keep up with your sealing (not as intimidating as it may seem) & treat it with a bit of care, it is still a great option.  Best of Luck!

  2. I just had granite counter tops put in and it looks like marble because of all the swirls and movement in the granite. You may not be able to get exact shade of white carrera marble, but if you tell the salesperson that you want a granite that looks like marble they can show you something very similar. The more movement/swirls in the granite the higher the price. I got a high end remnant that looks gorgeous. If you don't have an enormous kitchen you may have some luck. Don't be afraid to ask.

  3. granite and marble are a totally different stone , marble has veins and granite has speckles.

however there is a product called Coni Marble ,these people make synthetic marble, I will see if I can find the link for you and I will send it , keep looking at my answers I will up date.
