I would also like to have analog up conversion via HDMI to at least 720p resolution.

  1. there are no HTIB's on the Market that support Dolby TrueHD & DTS-HD (that Im aware of)

you would need to build this up as a kit yourself

Any amp out there that support DTSHD and TRUEHD will most definitely have Component and HDMI connectiob as well

I currently use the Onkyo Amp and Bose accoustimass 15 system...

Dont carry your audio via HDMI, do it via Optical, Not many HDMI calbes let you carry audio unless its a V1.3 Cable....

Up converter DVD players are out there and a re as cheap as chips, my entire system cost me just over 8,000 pounds my dvd player cost me £90 from samsung.... although I use toshiba HD player for upscaling and Sony Blu ray as well.

  2. HTIB's are kit systems for the technically challenged who do not want to learn how to mix and match.  You wont find any of the "bleeding edge" features like BluRay players, TrueHD decoding in these systems. (yet)

Get one of the new Onkyo receivers and a matched set of speakers from a SPEAKER company (not Sony, Samsung, Phillips).  The Onkyo's give a lot of features for good prices.

The link below explains a few things which might help you select a receiver.
