  1. lol

    they have no idea

    seagate

    samsung

    western d

    seagate i believe acquired western d

  2. Western Digital is the best.  Seagate is second.  Samsung is ok.  Basically, I have been at this since the first PC hit the shelves in 1981.  I have always had outstanding luck with western digital drives, so I almost always select that.  I can and do work with Seagate on occasion, but still prefer Western Digital.  Samsung would be something I would use in a pinch or a budget crisis.  They are Okay, but I am just not impressed with their longevity.

  3. Western Digital ->Seagate -> Samsung

  4. Seagate--> Barcuda 7200 rpm

  5. All drive makers buy parts for their drives from the same places. So saying one is better than the other is hard.

    However, I will rate Western Digitial as number one because their drives are consistantly stable and considerably faster(In raptor and velociraptor form).

    Followed by seagate then samsung.

  6. seagate .. the most trusted ...

    but ... one thing you should know that .... its very common with HDDs that .. sometimes they don't work even if they were just brought out of box ... or sometimes they works super fine for very long time ..

    so i personally think .. all is just depends upon how lucky you are .. :)

  7. The best one is the one that does not fail.

    Regardless to brand any and all hard drives can and may fail, some last a long time others do not. I have had hard drives of just about every brand pass through my hands, and I cannot say any one is better than the next.

    In choosing a drive I look for RPM, Cache and warranty, warranty is the most important.

    Also, in my business I have replaced all the above brands you mention on warranty, and quite a few of them.

    The environment in which they run can determine lifespan, heat is a big factor, dust with its insulating effect, power not being consistent, amount of usage, never being defragmented, being bumped, magnets being to close, and so many other variables.

  8. Seagate because it is a real performer.  Quiet, reliable and efficient.  It runs nice and cool too.  Samsung is not too bad, they are quiet and reasonably cool running... won't even bother with western digital.  Far too many failures.

  9. wd is best then seagate and samsung aint great
