Which Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone book is worth more? ?

I have two copies of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, but they are slightly different. The first one is paperback and has a picture of a younger brown-haired wizard on the back. The inscription says that Harry is "rescued by an owl". The second book is a hardback and has a picture of an older white-haired wizard on the back and says that Harry is rescued by "a beetle-eyed giant of a man".

I love the Harry Potter series, but I really don't know much about the different editions of the books. I'm just wondering what the difference is and if there is any significance to the difference. Are they worth anything?

Thanks a bunch!

  1. Hard cover is more money

  2. Ahh that's interesting! My friend claimed that she had an

old man on the back, but we thought she was going crazzy.

Now I know that, I'll tell her lol. x

  3. All Hardcover books are worth more than Paperbacks any day.

The different pictures issue was brought up a while back.

It seems different printings used different pictures.

So...it's the PRINTING DATES and BATCHES that is the "worth".....older printing worth more money.....well, they will be when they become antiques.

Also....different covers were used in different countries where they were issued.

My recommendation.....take EXCELLENT care of BOTH of them!
