Which Hospital??

Hospital #1

State of the art care, World Renowned Doctors. Building is clean, but older, not modern, with few amenities for family etc...

Hospital #2

State of the art medicine, world renowned doctors, facilities recently underwent modernization: beautiful art work, waterscapes in lobby, internet access for patients, upgraded menus' with meal choice, soft music in common areas. The hospital spent millions on these upgrades. The hospital is in India. Your insurance or your company will pay for your care there, and for a family member to accompany you.

Hospital #3

The same as #2, BUT in the U.S.

All three hospitals are part of your provider network in your insurance plan.

Why did you make the choice above??

Hospital #3.....if I'm conscious I "need" internet access.

Honestly though, I don't have enough information to make the choice.

What am I sick with? If I am sick enough to be hospitalized, then I can't imagine wanting to get on a plane for a really long flight to India no matter how much I'd like to see India and no matter how lovely the hospital sounds. I also don't like the idea that only one family member would accompany me to India. If there is medical care there that I could not receive in the United States, I wouldn't hesitate to go to India but to go there just for the ambience....probably not.

So between hospitals #1 and #3....how long am I going to be there? How sick am I....will I notice if my family stops visiting? If one of those two hospitals is located closer to my home and it makes it easier for my family to visit....that matters more than beautiful artwork but not as much as internet access.

As much as the amenities would be nice, I would be concerned about inconveniencing my family by making them drive a long distance. So if the medical care is equivalent, distance from my home and convenience for my family is pretty important to me.
