Question:

Which IPOD should I buy?

I know almost nothing about them, but my wife really wants one (and shes a good wife, so lets get her one).

Music will be on her IPOD, but I think her most desired items will be movies, music videos, and tv shows.

I guess the options are the 8GB Nano, the Classic (which has a lot more memory, but how does it do with video???) or the Touch.

Give me info on each please....thanks

  1. i would suggest you to buy aIPOD Touch.

    i USE I it personally .

it gives a large screen and all the other things needed for it. it has good touch flo and a s the screen is wide it also good to watch videos and Tv on it.

so my suggestions that you go for the ipod touch 16 gb or 8 gb

  2. Ditto on suggesting you first look for something other than an iPod. . . I've shopped around a bit before getting a new player, and have always ended up with something else that was just as good or (more often) better for a lower price.  They're not always off-brand, weird things, either -- most major names in computer and computer-related hardware make ones.  I know she's a great wife and deserves whatever you're going to spend, but maybe you can then splurge on some fun accessories as well?

If you want to poke around on the web a bit, anythingbutipod.com might give you some ideas.  Also, cnet.com usually has been pretty good at giving the other guys a fair shot.

  3. PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR!!!!! DO NOT BUY AN IPOD! THEY ARE A WASTE OF MONEY!!! I know a lot about mp3 players and believe me, with the technology today, you are just paying for the brand name when it comes to the IPOD. Go on E-Bay and search for "8 GB mp3". I guarantee you you will find some deals that will cost 1/3 of the Ipod. Even if its an unknown brand... what if it breaks? Then you still have two more to buy for the same price you would have bought an Ipod for. Save yourself the money, however big of an Ipod you are looking to get, search for it on Ebay and you'll find much cheaper!!

P.S. Many of these other mp3 players have the same features as the Ipod as well.

  4. the nano is a good choice...specially finacially...it plays music 29 hours and video for 6.7 hours...so choose the nano one...

  5. The Touch is your answer, it's the best choice because of the screen size and functionality. The battery life is about the same as on the Classic. If she'd be OK with the smaller screen size, of course the Classic is a more economical bet, but you'd really wow her with the Touch though, the two models don't really compare. Good luck!

  6. I personally prefer those which has a lot of memory to store songs , movies ,etc.

    i prefer this one

Highs: Slim design; impressive audio and video; good battery life; easy to use

Lows: Included headphones could be improved; headphone jack is on bottom of the player

well this must have surely helped you.Go for it

  7. You have to look around a bit. There are different types and brands. All do the same thing. Don't buy an expensive one if you don't need massive memory or space. They come in different styles, colors, etc - and you can buy accessories for them.

Have a look here and read some reviews (UK & US)

  8. I would go with the classic, it plays movies, music videos and tv shows and has enough memory to hold it all.

The nano is great but will not play any footage so wouldn't be good for what you want.

The touch, in my experience, is unreliable and to get enough memory is a lot more expensive than the classic

  9. If she wants it for movies, music videos, etc then definately a classic. I'm not sure which of the others can play movies or store photos on them, but the classic has the most decent sized screen out of all of them. I have the 80gb black classic and it's really good, would definately recommend. Also you're not constantly worrying about running out of memory on it because there's so much space on it! (: There's also 60gb ones though, if you think the 80gb might be a bit over the top. :P

The only two bad things I have to say about the classics are that they only come in two colours, black and white, and they have mirrored backs, so they get scratched and start to look pretty tacky real easy and quick, so I had to buy a cover for mine.. they don't cost much on top of the iPod though, and there's loads to choose from; you can buy hard plastic ones or the 'iPod sock' things in like every colour, and more (:
