  1. This attorney is straight out wrong.   Maybe he is taking about Medical claims only.   I don't know about that.

All insurance companies have Special Investigative Units to investigate fraud.    Usually everything checks out and the claim is paid .  I am speaking about home and auto.   State Farm is still the best company for home, auto, umbrella.

If you have been driving 47 years then you should stay with whatever company you have unless your having serious issues.

  2. State Farm is the best,i've had it for years.

  3. ~~Without any doubt I can say State Farm. I think they are an awesome company and recommend them to everyone I know. Never 1 bad experience out of 30+ years we have been with them.~~

  4. I do not understand anybody that endorses State Farm.  Maybe they have not had any recent claims.  I have been litigating insurance claims for almost 10 years and I emphatically will tell you to stay away from State Farm.  Sometime around 2002, they enlarged their Special Investigations Unit, and now refer almost every claim to SIU, and ultimately deny them.  They have "red flags" which cover almost every single claim, and those then get referred to State Farm.  They then intentionally conduct a very incomplete investigation designed to yield absolutely no facts relevant to the claim, so that the can allege fraud.  They will base these claims upon facts such as the apartment building that the insured lived in had a high number of auto claims.  In fact, people that come to my office for auto accidents, have a very difficult time getting doctors to take State Farm insurance b/c State Farm will accuse the medical practice of being fraudulently incorporated.  Almost always with no evidence whatsoever.  In fact they were recently sued in Brooklyn along with some of their law firms for just this practice.  This is the same company that was hit with a huge putative damage award after Katrina for burrying reports of experts that concluded that damage was caused by wind and therefore covered, and then sending in other experts to report that the damage was caused by flood and therefore not covered.

State Farm was also behind Operation Boris in Suffolk county, where the DA indicted hundreds of people for insurance fraud, and voluntarily dismissed almost every single indictment.

I can cite hundreds of examples of unfair practices by State Farm.  The bottom line is that State Farm insures less than 10% of the files in my office, yet take up about 80% of my time.

In my experience, for Home, you cannot go wrong with Chubb.  They are the best when it comes to paying claims, but they are a bit costly.

For auto, I like Geico, Chubb, Travelers and esurance.  Stay away from State Farm, Allstate, Nationwide and Countrywide.

Go with your homeowners for umbrella.
