  1. internet explorer of course!

    nobody can beat ie (microsoft)

  2. IE8 only runs on Windows.

I'd vote for Opera and Firefox on linux- no virus, no problem, no microsoft.

    What do you think?

Chrome will be open source, so for that reason alone it is better than IE8.

  3. That's like asking which automobile is better, a Ford Full Sized pickup truck or a little Toyota Prius. Sure, both drive you around places, but each one is suited for different things. As are both of those browsers.

IE8 is a full featured browser with loads of features. Google Chrome is a very minimalist browser with not too many features.

So it's going to depend on what you want or need.

Personally, I would just stick with Firefox.

  4. Chrome probably has a bit of the edge for now, especially with the new V8 Javascript engine (which I could definitely make use of).  However, nothing beats a large user base in the long run, but we'll just have to see how that part turns out.

I wouldn't suggest using either until they're out of beta, though.

  5. Chrome is the best between those two. All internet explorers need more resources, and are slow. Internet explorer is made by the terrible company microsoft, who wants to end all open source software, and monopolize every part of the computer industry.

  6. Chrome. Mostly because I will never touch IE ever again if I can help it. At least not on my own computer.

  7. Wow, Chrome Beta was only released less than 4 hours ago.

Right now I am trying out Chrome.  It seems like a really decent browser so far.  Obviously being new and beta it lacks some of the plug-ins I rely upon in Firefox so if it replaces Firefox for me it will be a while.  I really like the "Task Manager" and the fact that each tab is it's own separate process.  Google has a really good thing going.  Since I just started using it I can't really give a final verdict yet but I could see myself recommending it.  I'm a web developer and I'm about to see how it works with my pages after Answers.

I should mention that, although I'm not a Firefox fan boy I am very biased.  I do all I can to avoid Internet Explorer because although it looks good on the surface to the user, under the hood and behind the scenes it is a real pain.  The Trident rendering engine it uses has got to be one of the worst.  (Google Chrome uses the Webkit rendering engine)

For what it's worth Webkit is based off KHTML and is also used by Apple Safari, Epiphany, OmniWeb, and some other less known browsers.

  8. Well, considering the IE8 beta is more demanding than Windows XP itself, I'd say Chrome is a clear winner!
