Sorry guys, same question different horses.

My habit-

Western reality-

http://www.dreamhorse.com/show_horse.php?form_horse_id=1211865

Both of these horses have neg. prices and i feel are more reasonable in terms of price. Western reality is 14,000 neg and is being sold by a super motivated buyer, and my habit is 15000 neg and the buyer is flexible on the price if he is going to the right home. My habit has a video and western reality doesn’t. They both are around the same age (My habit is 1 year older) which horse do you think will be a better horse in the long run and which do you think shows more potential for jumping. Thank you so much! :) i love horses in general so its hard for me to step back and make a decision. P.S i will be riding the horse that you think is better and not just buying it.

  1. My habit looks so much better and shows alot more potential. I love his jump! western reality I would not buy because he works off a hard bit and would be tough to control and tough to show and still win a ribbon.

Plus why would the buyer be super motivated unless it was a problem horse

  2. Coming from a person who was very competitive in the jumpers, I would not choose either of these.  While they both have a lot of pros, they also both have a lot of cons.

My habit has a tendency to hang his knees and jump either flat or super round which is sign that he doesn't find the base of the fence.

Western Reality is ridden in a strong bit, which is never something you want, and he jumps extremly sloppy.

I would keep looking around.  If you are thinking about long term I would keep my eye out for something that is really solid and consistent.  The price your are willing to pay is comfortable enough to find a good horse, don't settle for less, the right horse will come along.  Find a horse that you are happy with.

I just looked at some horses that were jumpers for your price range in Washington State and I found this:

Though she is a quarter horse she has a much better jump and definately a better mover than the other two.

This gelding is a very tight jumper(big plus) and a good mover.  And they are willing to accept payments.

But just keep looking around and call about anything that intrests you, it is much more personal than an email and it shows people that you are truly intrested.  So many people think it is so easy to find a talented jumper, but really they are one in a million.  To find a really nice jumper is in my opinion much harder than trying to find a nice hunter, and I have done both.  Best of Luck in your search for a new riding partner, I know it can be a long and at some points tiring search but if you hold out for the right horse, and it will come along, you will be so much happier in the end.

  3. I think my habit is just more worth it in the long run and is a better horse.

  4. wester reality looks more cuter..

  5. I liked western reality better.  I would ride them both before purchasing and making a decision.  see which one you like better if possible.

  6. I like My Habit a lot! Theres a lot of jump in that little horse. I'd want to see a video of the second one before comparing them.

  7. I do like both, but it's really hard to judge the second with only one photo over fences.

I really, really like My Habit's way of going, he looks like an agressive jumper--and I mean that in the best way possible, he looks capable of going higher and has already done well. The only issue is that, like most horses that are competing significant heights-I wouldn't reccomend him to someone who is relatively new to jumping-he looks like he could introduce someone to competition at that level, but a good solid level headed horse to learn on? Less likely. I like him more than the second, though-judging by what I'm seeing he's a very capable horse.

Since they're both lighter built horses, I think that you'll run into less problems in the long run-so many warmbloods are so heavily built and so massive up front with such weak hindquarters-it puts alot of weight onto their forehand, and the ones that run into problems are the ones that don't have the bone to back it up(hence Irish Draughts who are bred for sturdy strong bones tend to stay sound and hold up to hard work). To summarize, they're putting alot less stress on their legs and hooves because they're more delicately built and not packing around extra weight. Both are not conformationally perfect, but the first looks pretty good and built to stay sound in the long run. I'm not fond of Western Reality's straight shoulder, but it doesn't seem to effect him-atleast at that height-it's hard to judge his hind end when he's not standing square.

All in all, I like My Habit better, but both look fairly priced and they look like solid prospects.

  8. My Habit just seems to be a better horse.  I also don't like how Western reality is alittle skinny.  I think that My Habit looks alotl better.

  9. my habit def...he works on the bit, but i noiced the other one was in a super severe bit...bad sign.

  10. my habit love him to pieces
