I am looking to get a Katana from the sbg sword store? Its between the Tenchi and the 30' blue handled Nagasa....They are similar and because of the extra 2 inches on the Nagasa, it supposedly cuts better. Which is sharper and which one should i get?

  1. It depends what you are going to do with it. Unless you are well over 6' tall, a thirty inch sword is too long to be practical. It would be difficult to use in iaido. The extra inches should make no difference to the way it cuts and could make it so unwieldy that you could easily hit the ground with it on makuri cuts (which may damage the sword, the ground and possibly you.

It is difficult to advise without knowing what art you study and if you don't study anything I would advise against buying either.

Swordsmanship is not a game and training is very important.

  2. i like nagasa but unless you can actually have a feel of it you cant reallt tell which one is better for you.

  3. well why worrie about what cuts better cause you probly wont cut someone up with it unless your crazy. if its for display than get the one that looks cool. but make sure its not one of those cheap chinese made ones that brake real easy
