Which LSAT prep books should I get? Weekend course?

I'm taking the LSAT in December, and wanted to start studying, but there are so many different programs and books to choose from! Which books do you recommend?

Also, I'm interested in taking a weekend intensive with powerscore. Has anyone taken it? Is it worth it?

  1. Back when I was prepping, I took PowerScore, and I'm a big fan. The material we used in class was really good with lots of drills, practice questions, and explanations, and the instructor for my class was on the ball. It just seemed well done and well organized, and it definitely helped me a lot. My score jumped up into the 170s so I was really happy. I didn't think it was too complicated; the LSAT itself is complicated, so maybe that is what the other writer means.

As far as books, the two PowerScore LSAT Bibles are great, and the Kaplan 180 is also helpful. Make sure to buy a bunch of of real LSATs too, preferably in the form of the "Next 10 LSAT Preptests." That is the cheapest way to get them.

    Good luck!

  2. I've heard good things about:

TestSherpa -- the most complete free resource online and a $10 book

PowerScore -- if you're really having trouble, although they can be too complicated for students who are already doing well (the complicated process makes things worse)

Kaplan -- good, basic all-around advice, although more expensive.

  3. I prefer Princeton Review, but really I'm not sure that it matters much.  I'd thumb through Kaplan and Princeton Review and pick whichever of the two you're most comfortable with.
