  1. I'd boil this down to one question: Do you need support?

If you don't, go with the Toshiba. If you want support when (not IF) things go wrong, go with the Dell.

Also, Dell know how to put together a stable system. Not that Toshiba don't, but that's what Dell DO. And fair play, they do it well.

    [Also, well put WestMichigan]

BTW I have an Acer laptop - and apart from all the c**p they bundle with it that takes an age to wipe from existence, it's excellent,

  2. I am so sick of people bashing Dell's when they don't have any facts to back it up.  Out of the top 15 laptops tested on notebook reviews 5 Dell notebooks were in top 11 where as only one toshiba made the list at postion 7.  I have attached the link to the review I'm refering for you convenience.

  3. The Toshiba. They're pretty good. Dell laptops are junky.

  4. if they are both the same, i would go with the Toshiba. I have a Toshiba laptop and they are very reliable. The same cannot be said about Dell

  5. Dell Studio for sure.

Dell laptops are best quality by far.

Toshiba laptops are made of cheap parts and break real fast (normally within 6 months).

I would only recommend Dell or HP.

  6. Whichever you go for, you won't be wrong...  Dell and Tosh are both good manufacturers.

Don't believe other posters comments about Dell - I manage about 200 Dell computers and they rarely go wrong.  Of those 200, we get about one Dell failure every three months or  so, which is pretty impressive.  And when they do go wrong, Dell support is amongst the best out there.  If you know anyone who uses Dell at work see if they can get a discount scheme (staff at my company are entitled to discounted computers and delivery).

Tosh's are good too - for years they were the leaders in the laptop game.

Have a look for other differences - weight, battery life, etc.  It depends what is important to you.  Or Google some reviews.

  7. I love my dell satellite A205 and I would really recommend a the toshiba.

  8. Toshiba in general are better, dell's are more for heavy duty laptops.

    Hope this helps.

    Dan
