Which MLB team has the largest fan base in the USA?

1. Cubs ( true die hard fans win or lose )

2. Yankees ( mix with some true fans + bandwagon fans who know nothing about the team history except Da BABE. (Not the movie Babe with the pig either) + the gangster for show, again limited knowledge of team and the game.

3. Red Sox ( again mixed with some true fans + bandwagon fans who know nothing about the team history except Bill Buckner's blunder and current chick movies that says "I have to have the hat cause it matches my jeans" + Hollywood actors)

Biggest would prob be the Yankees, followed closely by the cubs.. although a lot of people are jumping on the bandwagon this year. But the Red Sox did not really have any type of following until they won the series in '04. So there is a lot of bandwagon fans.

I believe that (if you take averages of marketing income over the last couple years, the current data may be slightly skewed with the Sox being the defending champs) you would find that the Yankees have "the largest" fan base. Followed by the Sox and the Cubs in third.

I am basing this answer on complete and utter facts. The dodgers have the greatest attendance in sports history. They have had approximately 180 millionfans in attendance the last 100 plus years. No team is close, except for maybe the yankees. Baseball games are not cheap, and it takes money and dedication to go. Therefore I would say they have the largest fan base. I would have said the yankees, but they easily have the most bandwagoners because of their large number of championships

People who call themselves "fans" aren't truly fans.  Just sayin your a fan of a team means nothing if you don't follow it.  I consider somebody a fan only if they actually pay somewhat attention to the team.  I'd have to say that the Red Sox have the largest fan base (my definition) in the world.  The largest fan base of just ppl who say they are fans of a team would be yankees because people think they are rooting for champions, not knowing they havn't won in 8 years.

I say that the ANGELS have the largest fanbase. Their fans are with them through thick and thin. Also, they have only won one world series and they do great every year. Go to an angle game and everything is red and white. They never quit on their team and everyone stays the whole game.

Just the name "baseball" has been kind of symbolic with the Yankees. All the legendary players and all the championships have given them a huge fan base.

But being a Cubs fan through all the good and bad times, I have to give us some props too. I know I'm one of many, and that takes something special to stick with your team this long, even when they suck.

you couldnt turn on a yankees game the last ten years and see thousands of fans at an away game. the Yankees have fans all over the country, while Boston and Cubs fans are much more localized

The Red Sox have only become popular in the past 4 years, it doesn't wipe out the previous 86 years of being awful.

Well, the yanks have the largest fan base, due to the fact that they are the most known team, with tons of band wagoners.

THe cubs have the most die hard fans while the sox are a happy medium
