My friend and I are planning a vacation for May 2010 and we can't decide between two popular vacation spots. We're looking for an area with plenty to do, amazing scenery, culture, and rich in nightlife.

So.. which would be better vacation spot for us: Madrid or Barcelona?

  1. Madrid, Spain

  2. Madrid is cool to walk around in, but other than that there's not too much to do. I loved Barcelona, there are so many places you can visit, ranging from parks, museums and bars. Barcelona also is home to the insanely gorgeous Sagrada Familia Cathedral, which is a reason to visit Spain in itself. Also you can go to Guell Park, the Picasso Museum, you can visit the Stadium where the FC Barcelona games are held, along with the Olympics a few years back and so much more! You're going to have an amazing time for sure!

  3. In May of this year I was in Madrid only for a layover and then proceeded to Barcelona and a bunch of other cities in Europe (including Rome, Venice, Athens, Naples, Florence, Istanbul, etc).  Let me tell you, Barcelona was the best place we went to!  It was fun, and there was always plenty to do... whether you're into historic places or nightclubs it has it all for young and old!  Las Ramblas is a real nice area for tourists and it's full of people day, night and any day of the week!  Also, if you'd like to venture further out of the city visit Montserrat... what a beautiful experience we had travelling up the mountain and then visiting the church to hear the boy's choir.  It was truly surreal!  It's great also because the train system is rather easy to learn and quite inexpensive... that's how we got around the whole time we were there.
