  1. Most drivers live in NC.  A few that do not:

    Mark Martin (Daytona)

    Tony Stewart (Indiana)

    Patrick Carpentier (Las Vegas)

    Juan Pablo Montoya (Miami)

Dario Franchitti (I'm not sure where they live, but I know it is not around here! Tenessee I think)

Elliott Sadler has homes in VA and NC and spends more time in VA.

An above answer is wrong. She listed birthplaces and not current residences.  To correct that:

Ryan Newman lives in NC.  He actually lives in Statesville, which is just north of Mooresville.

Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson both live in the city of Charlotte.

Kevin Harvick lives near High Point, which is near Winston Salem and near the RCR shop.

Both Busch brothers live in Mooresville.

Denny Hamlin lives in Davidson which is the next town south from Mooresville.  However, he does not live on the lake.

Martin Truex and Kasey Kahne both live in Mooresville.

Many drivers do own multiple homes.  For example, Casey Mears also owns a condo in Arizona.

  2. some do some dont

  3. Matt Kenseth is a "cheesehead"

  4. Jaynarie is correct on this one for sure.  I live in Raleigh NC but have followed Nascar closely since the early '80's.  I have a lot of friends and family in Charlotte and the surrounding areas, including some in real estate.  The Hendrick guys definitely live in Charlotte (or nearby, like Huntersville or Mooresville).  Hendrick headquarters are located in Charlotte, like most teams... As a matter of fact, I know where Jeff Gordon lives and "approximately" where Rick Hendrick lives.  Martin Truex, BTW, definitely lives in the Mooresville area near DEI.  He used to live on Dale Jr's property for a while when he joined the team.

It's not a pride thing or a debate, it is simply the fact that 85% of the teams and team owners have their garage facilities and offices in Charlotte or a suburb of it.  "Stock car racing" started in western NC because of moonshining in the Appalachians... Country boys with fast cars and big egos decided to race each other for money, like the original superstar of them all, Junior Johnson.  When I was young they ran 6-7 races in NC each year, not to mention nearly as many in VA and SC as well.  Ever heard of North Wilkesboro?  Used to be 2 races a year in Rockingham as well.  NASCAR is fun to watch when tracks as small as Bristol have little or no banking and the cars look like they've been in a demolition derby for 3 hours!

"Yahoo" articles about guys like JGordon who said they "knew they had to move to NC to be serious about NASCAR."  If your favorite guy doesn't live here now, he probably will eventually.

  5. Tony Stewart  Indiana

    Jeff Gordon    Boca Raton Fl

    Juan Pablo Montoya Miami Beach

  6. smoke indianapolis , and like almost all of hms is califoria
