  1. The first one.  The second one is bad, no matter what the subject is.

    My opinion.

  2. Actually I don't like either of them. The out of focus flower in the first is a distraction. In the second, the flower is in focus but obscures one of the out of focus people and the people are a distraction.

If the first one had more depth of field so the flower was in focus it would be a better picture.

I shoot in Aperture Preferred 99% of the time so I can control the depth of field*. I check the shutter speed the camera selects to make sure its not too slow.

ExpoImaging (http://www.expoimaging.net) sells the ExpoAperture2 which is an analog calculator to compute depth of field. You just line up aperture, lens focal length and sensor size and it gives you the range of focus.

Keep trying. Watch your subject placement - use the rule of thirds.

    * I use a 35mm film camera and 2 of my favorite lenses are a 21mm and 24mm. With the 21mm at f16 and focused to 6', everything from 2' 2" to infinity is in focus. With the 24mm at f16 and focused to 6', everything from 2' 5" to infinity is in focus.

  3. I think who the h**l are you spying on.

But one you can actually see

  4. it depends, if the subject is the people than i would say the first one and if your subject was the flower the second one

  5. I think #2 is better

The focus is on the flower

    the DOF is nice

  6. Both those pictures are horrible

  7. 2 I like the focus more on the flowers.

The other one is alright but I the focus is better on the flowers than on the background.
