I don't know the number but can direct you.  Go through the ticket barrier and walk straight on over that bridge crossing over the first four tracks.  The first staircase you come to  go down onto that platform.   On getting to that platform turn left away from the cafe, and walk north.   The two platforms on your left are the ones for Chester.

  3. Very Clever Question, which cannot be answered, unless you say what station that you are traveling from. Also what makes it harder for us to give you this information is that, it all depends on what platform the signaller send the train to.

Anyway if you are traveling from Crew. I think that its platform 4 (4a/b) but it has been 5 years since I caught a train that was going through Crew.

  4. You could just simply check with the station departure boards for the platform number whilst your at the station.

If you want information in advance, you could try www.journeyplan.co.uk , put in your journey information, and it will give you the platform number.

I must say however, that platform alterations can take place, so it's just best to just check at the station, on the day, for up to date information on the departure boards.
