Question:

Which Pram? I'm really finding it hard!?

Hi, I've been looking at prams now for what seems like forever lol. I wont a light weight, umbrella folding pram for newborn. I would prefer baby to face me whilst she is so small.

I was looking at the Maclaren XLR and love it, but would prefer her to face me at the begining. So we looked at the Silver cross 3D - but it had really bad reviews, also the Mamas and Papas Pilko + - but I was told by so many people to not touch M&P with a barge poll. Britax Visio was perfect, just a bit to heavy.

So you can see my problem! I know I seem picky but our budget isn't big and we don't wont to wast money on a pram that will only get used for a short period of time then end up buying the Maclaren because it's light weight and easier ha ha ha.

Do you think that it is really important to see the baby whilst newborn?

Do you think that a baby sling would be OK for the first 3 mth's then use the Maclaren?

and also is there any other prams that I have missed?

  1. My only advice is this - DO NOT BUY A BUGABOO. Unless you like being frustrated and can juggle a baby and a pram at the same time.

From what I know, the M&P Pilko Pramette is an excellent pram!

  2. i dont know who has been telling you not to touch mamas and papas, i highly recommend it!i have a ultima combination travel system and it is excellant value for money and excellant quality, it would easily last out for a few children!you can face the child towards you or away from you whichever you choose!

  3. i used the mamas and papas pilko travel system for both my children and i cannot fault it - i would highly recommend it to you.

  4. Use a sling for the first few months if you get on with it OK, I had one and found it very awkward.

It's nice to see the new baby in the pram but not essential. You just buy what you can afford, don't waste your money on baby stuff - it's so expensive to buy and you get next to nothing if you sell it on.

There's a great baby warehouse store in the town where I live, Check it out  'www.Precious Little One'

All the best with the baby.

  5. Well I think you should go with what you like and dont listen too much to others. I had a mama's and papa's travel system with my son 5 years ago and it was great, I really couldnt fault it. I am now 26 weeks and have already ordered a silver cross 3D syatem. I havent heard any bad reviews about it. I think the 3D system is a good price and there is alot of extras included, and the pushchair looks good and that is what is being used the most. Go for whatever you like and what suits your needs.

  6. I am already a mother of two, now out of buggy's for a little while and now due to have a 3rd in dec. I have my sights set on the quinny buzz as the chaise holds every thing separately so storage wise i would only need to use the car seat on it's own for a while and it can be facing u while other travel systems are bulky and you have to use the buggy with car seat on top plus the quinny buzz has only 3 wheels and is a one handed job to put up and put down; everybody to their own though every body is different in their likes and dislikes.

The main reason i like this travel system is that u can use carrycot , buggy and car seat on their own thus making storing easy. It looks cosie too!

Go to Ebay and take a look at the quinny buzz travel systems!!!

  7. A sling is fine, but whatever pushchair you get, make sure it lies flat back...that will mean you can see the baby perfectly well, plus, baby can sleep better...don't spend a fortune though, unless you plan to have lots of babies! They grow so fast, and are actually in a pram for such a short time...I found a good, umbrella type folding buggy best after the sling stage...and I did buy a second hand pram which was only used for about 4 months...as soon as the baby can push itself up, you won't want it in a pram in case of accidents...Bear in mind, that on a child's second birthday, they are half the height they will end up at as an adult! Makes you think, eh?!

  8. I suggest the sling for the first three months and then get the maclaren.  We have a bugaboo but rarely use it because I prefer my sling (she is 4.5 months).

  9. Hi

I have 2 kids - 4 & 2. I have been a bt of a buggyholic, and have driven many buggies - gracos, inglesina, m&p zapp, maclaren quest, techno xt/classic, phil &teds, mothercare own, and micralite. of course it depends on what you want from a buggy - for me it's ease of movement, weight, small fold. micralite comes first. u can even get one off ebay for cheap. you could get a micralite fastfold, plus carrycot ( great for sleeping away from home and you can see baby) - goes from birth till 4 ( quite rare). it's light, got great manoeverability, small fold. the older version had a few problems, which have been ironed out in the latest. and it is brilliant! oh it's one of the lightest on the market. you could try micralite torro - which lies flat without need for carrycot. i have not driven it - but the frame is the same as the fastfold so i'm guessing it would be just as good.

    hope this helps

    x

  10. Hello,

I think it's nice when they face you because lets face it (pardon the pun!) when they get older then they face the other way in the prams, buggies etc.

I've got the M&P Pliko. It's robust but it weighs a tonne. I wouldn't buy this one again!

You could use a sling, but as the baby gets heavier, it makes it harder on your shoulders in one.

  11. You could always have one that comes as a travel system. I have the Graco Mosaic, which is forward facing but you can fit the car seat onto the buggy - making baby face you - for the first few monhs. Also, it's reasonably priced, comes in some lovely designs, folds up very small (i have a tiny car boot - Fiat Punto) and the buggy will last until baby's at least 3.
