I don't quite understand this new "all under 23 players chosen must play in the Olympics" rule. Does that mean the player himself doesn't even get a say? Or does it just mean their club has no right to refuse?

I guess Liverpool will miss Babel for the first couple of weeks, but which other players will miss the start of the season?

Also who was responsible for creating the rule? Hope it wasn't Senor Loco aka Blatter up to his old tricks again!

  1. Babel, Kalou, and From La Liga Messi may miss ....http://soccergauge.blogspot.com/

  2. It means that the club must release the player for the Olympics if that player is called up and is under 23.

From what I can remember,Anderson,Lucas Leiva and Jo are called up the the Brazil squad.Salomon Kalou is called up for the Ivory Coast squad, and Ryan Babel is called up for the Holland squad.Apart from those 5 players I don't really know who else is going to the Olympics.

  3. Never mind they are not key players at all.
