Michael Turner

  1. If these are the only backs on the board then take a WR instand but if you have to take one of these guys take ronnie brown

  2. ronnie brown. lots of receptions, got a new blocker in Long and will get around 7-11 tds and around 1200 all purpose yrds. hes the smart pick

  3. if those are players u want in the second round ur nuts. ronnie brown will be there around the 6th round. stewart and forte shouldnt be drafted anywhere that high. both jones arent good enough to be ur #2 back. if those are your only choices, id go turner cuz he has upside. if not, peyton manning will be available, t.o. will be there, darren mcfadden, and a whole lot of better players.

  4. If you are in a keeper league, you have to go with youth and that means you should target Matt Forte, Jonathan Stewart and Selvin Young.

Forte has no QB, so realize he'll tire out after week 10.

Stewart has the most long-term upside. The guy was a great runner at Oregon.

Young will get 1,000 yards but remember the Broncos have a machine that uses RBs for 1-2 years and starts anew. Hello, Travis Henry?

If you are in a one-and-done league, you should take Thomas Jones. He ran for 1,000 yards last season (but only 1 TD) last season behind a terrrible line. The Jets made upgrades that should put Jones at 1,300 yards and 8 TDs. I think everyone figured out that Jones was the better back in the Chicago tandem. I see Jones having a career season this year, with a steady, Shaun Alexander-like decline in 2009.

Ronnie Brown is a double-edged risk. If you can stomach his return from injury can you handle the 8-in-the-box defenses who will ignore whoever is under center?

Edgerrin James and Julius Jones are likely to run for 800 yards and 4-5 TDs, so you want to avoid them. DeAngelo Williams will start, but he's going to give up carries as the season goes on.

Michael Turner is playing in Atlanta...with Joey Harrington. You might as well hook up a hose up to the exhaust pipe and breath deeply if you are picking Falcons on your fantasy football team (exception to the rule is Roddy White as your #3 WR). Turner will see the same defensive fronts as Ronnie Brown.

  5. Ronnie Brown.  He was huge last season before he was hurt, as long as he can stay healthy  he has the potential to put up huge numbers.

  6. Michael Turner mainly because he's the best of the bunch. He'll surprise many this season. He could possibly turn into a Larry Johnson type player. Everyone knew that Larry Johnson was a good runner when he backed up Priest Holmes, but they didn't know that he would be as good as he is now. Turner should get a bundle of carries since Matt Ryan is a rookie under center. Don't be shocked if he produces more fantasy points than three of these runningbacks combined.

Edgerrin James is getting old and will almost always be a big question mark. It would be a big risk to take him. Matt Forte is a rookie and has two other good runningbacks on his team. Julius Jones might end up splitting carries, he's on a pass-first offense anyways. Thomas Jones is going to be running behind a new line. Selvin Young has potential, but he's only got an average offensive line. DeAngelo Williams and Jonathon Stewart are splitting carries, so leave them out of it. Ronnie Brown is coming off of a serious injury. He had a good season until the injury. He might not do as well as last year before the injury.

My final pick is Michael Turner. Go with him and you get a potential top 8 RB.

  7. Matt Forte, hes young, got game to give.

  8. This might sound crazy but I would take Jonathan Stewart. Stewart will be the starting RB in Carolina, getting 80% of the carries and all goalline carries.Stewart is the perfect RB for their offensive scheme and has the running style of Stephen Davis. Checkout Davis' stats  when playing for the Panthers. Carolina runs the ball and throws to RB 68% of the time.

  9. Brown, then Turner.  Brown has an excellent chance to be a great back this year, but he has injury problems.  Otherwise, he'd have gone in the first round.  Last year he was the number one RB in fantasy scoring until his injury.  It really hurt my fantasy team!  Turner is unproven as a starter, but has tremendous upside.  These players both play for poor teams, but that means they will play poor teams, so they will have easier run defenses than some.  It's really a toss-up here, but I would take Brown over Turner because I think Miami has a better schedule and will have a more experienced QB to take some pressure off of Brown.

That's it for round two.  The rest can be had later.  Take a WR if there is a good one left (Fitzgerald, Colston, Owens, A. Johnson, Steve Smith) or an elite level QB (Romo, Manning).  I'm sure Moss and Brady will be gone by here, but take them if they are still there!

I wouldn't draft DeAngelo Williams because his spot isn't very secure with Stewart there.  I would take Stewart over Williams, probably in the fourth round.  Forte looks good, but now they have brought in Kevin Jones, which hurts his value a little.  he's worth taking in the third or fourth round.  Selvin Young could end up not even starting, knowing Denver, so I would shy away from him until a later round, too.

Julius Jones, Edggerin James, Thomas Jones--these players will have OK seasons, but I would want them as my number three RB, and will still be there in round 4 or 5 for sure.

  10. uhh those are the only guys availbe? Take Ronnie Brown, makes most sense and other guys arent good enough to be in the second round, Ronnie Brown Lead all the RBs in fantasy points until he got hurt. Look to pick up forte in the Later rounds though.

  11. 1. Brown. Just pray he's healthy.

    2. Turner. IF he can prove he's an every down back, he could be a real sleeper.

Beyond that, its a coin flip. If you pick a rookie in the 2nd round, you better KNOW he's going to start or you just blew a pick.

  12. darren mcfadden. smarten up .

  13. For me, this choice comes down to 2 backs: Ronnie Brown and Michael Turner. Most people would argue that Ronnie Brown is the obvious choice because he was on a tear last season before getting hurt. However, he is coming back from an injury plus he will be splitting carries with Ricky Williams. When drafting a back, it is best to try to find a "workhorse" (primary ball carrier). From this list, I believe Michael Turner will shoulder a significant amount of carries for the Falcons. As a native San Diegan, (but not a Charger fan) I know what this guy can bring. With a new rookie quarterback, look for the offense to rely heavily on Turner. Warrick Dunn was able to produce at the age of 59 so imagine what Turner should be able to do behind that line. I would also keep a close eye on Selvin Young. Should Shanahan decide to make him the featured back, this guy is going to really turn some heads!!! When do you draft in the 3rd round? It could be to your advantage to land a top wide receiver at number two if you think those two will still be there by then.

    Good Luck!

  14. Ronnie Brown or Michael Turner

  15. Ronnie Brown has more potential as an all around back.  He struggled a bit last year due to the poor team around him but surely the Dolphins won't be that bad again.  I'd look for him to rebound nicely and have a strong season.  That team will lean on him plenty to produce so he'll certainly have the opportunities.

  16. I would not take Ronnie Brown, it is extremely rare a RB that has been able to come back the year right after an ACL tear and have a good year.  Even though ACL technically heal in about 6 months they are really a 2 year injury.  Thats when we see the NFL RBs return to form.  A lot of people are predicting Michael Turner to have a good year.  The 3 fantasy mags I have read predict him to rush for at least 1200yds this season.  I have to first tell you I am a Bears fan, but out of the RBs you have listed I feel Forte will score the most fantasy points this season.  He is the starting RB for the bears who are a run first team and would love nothing better then to run the ball every play of the game if they could.  He is a very good recieving back and the bears have already touted him as an every down back saying he can run, catch, and block.  The bears have a all pro center and the rest of there oline is pretty good.  I think Forte will still be around a few rounds later though.  E. James will not get you any great weeks, but he is Mr. Consistancy.  He is pretty much guarunteed to get 1000 yds rushing, 200 yds recieving, and 4-6 tds a year.  Selvin Young has huge upside, but he had injury problems last year and can you remember the last time the Broncos had there starting RB from the beginning of the year actually finish the year?  They run a lot and they do it well, unfortunately there RBs usually dont last.  If it were me as far as fantasy points goes I would rank them Forte, Turner, Young, James.  If Young stays healthy though, he will be #1.  I like Steward but Car. also has D. Williams and Car. coaching has already said they will split time.

    Additional--

I am a bears fan but even I do not think they have 2 "good" RBs behind Forte.  They have A. Peterson and G Wolfe, both are average at best in my opinion.  Otherwise the Bears would not have spent a 2nd round pick on a RB.

    Additional, additional--

Bears just picked up K. Jones but have already stated that it is strictly for back up puposes and Forte is the starter.
