  1. depends. FM won't get anywhere as near as AM does. AM can be heard from very far away.

  2. BBC...World Service

it goes all over the world....and is respected for its true realistic daily news......most leaders listen to it

  3. 1548 AM

  4. WCSM in Maine was putting out 500,000 watts on shortwave. I don't know what power VOA transmits.

My little 100 watt station has talked to people on all 7 continents, and that includes Antarctica.

It is not a question of power, but depends on the ionosphere.

If you are interest, check out ham radio

  5. Aything transmitted by the BBC is generally strongest.

  6. Most if not all LW stations do.  These are found at around 150kc to 250kc.  This is located just below medium wave.  The power output is high and will travel around the globe easily.

  7. I believe KDKA in Pittsburgh (the first commercial station) still has the strongest signal.

  8. All stations use more than just one transmitter, so they micro link it from one ariel to the other based on how far they want to go and of course how far the DTi will let them go. World Service is a good answer- I am sure they listen to it on the International Space station-you can get a signal ANYWHERE! (Ok, it's not the greatest station for your favourite band, but very helpful all around the world.)

But distance from a single f.m. transmitter is based in how many watts you are running. If you have a good aerial placed in a high enough spot, it is VERY roughly 1 mile per watt. So a pirate station would have about a 3 watt transmitter, Capital Radio would have a 26 watt-maybe stronger, but BBC will have the strongest of the lot in the UK. Places in USA and Australia will be able to pump out much higher wattage stations as the land is vast and won't interfere going over someone elses frequency (they call it bleeding.) So it would have to be somewhere out there, but in the U.K. it is BBC.

  9. I know of a couple 50,000 watt superstations in the US.

  10. Without doubt it's the BBC World service. By far the most listened to radio station in the world.

  11. Ummm probably ABC or something...they broadcats all over Australia....
