Question:

Which Royal Marine jobs specializations are closed to Commonwealth, non-British citizenship?

I am a Canadian (with Canadian citizenship) living in America, and I want to join the Royal Marines. So, I have the citizenship requirement filled, because it says "To be eligible to be processed, at the time of application, a candidate must be a British citizen, or a citizen of a Commonwealth country”.

But then it says “certain career paths are only available to British citizens”. I plan to get my British citizenship, but not right off the break (5 years is a long time to wait). So here are my questions.

-Which jobs are restricted to British citizens?

- Is “Reconnaissance Operator” among the restricted job specializations?

Thanks for your help.

  1. As a Canadian 99 % will be open - only those which require DV (Developed Vetting) Security Clearance might be out of bounds - normall communications with the Special Forces or Special Forces (ie SBS), but as a British Soldier (ie Army) I might be a Pongo without a clue - but expect I am pretty close to it

  2. The website doesn't say it so you will have to contact them (e-mail,phone). Or if you are currently in the UK go to the careers office. e-mail me if you need more info.
