Question:

Which SUV or CUV should I get next year?

Alright, I currently drive a 2007 Nissan Altima Coupe.

But, I need something larger, and my mom has agreed to purchase my car from me either at the end of this year or sometime at the beginning of next year.

So, I have roughly 6-9 months to decide which SUV or CUV (Cross-over Utility Vehicle) to get.

I want something with good gas mileage. I would prefer the following brands:

GMC

Chevrolet

Ford

Toyota

Nissan

Honda (maybe)

The more popular brands. I don't want a throw-away brand like Kia or Hyundai.

Again, gas mileage is a big factor. Price is iffy for me. I'm willing to spend from 20 to 40 thousand dollars, as long as gas mileage is great. I am also ok with either a Hybrid or standard gasoline vehicle. No diesels!

Please provide which vehicles you think are good, dependable, and are they known for any problems?

I have never bought an SUV/CUV before, only cars, so I would like all information possible.

Thanks to everyone who aids my decision!

  1. Toyota Rav4- Great little SUV. It has decent room, a comfortable ride, and an impressive MPG

Toyota Highlander hybrid: Gets just about the same MPG as the Rav4, roomier, more powerful, has good handling, and has a very smooth ride.

Nissan Rogue: Good MPG, easy to manuver, stylish, safe and reliable.

Honda CR-V: A little bit overrated, but still a good choce.

Ford Edge: My personal favorite. Gets mid 20s MPG, has great styling, good features, and has a very gripping ride.
