  1. Hey Buddy, never ask this question again, trust me, its retarded.

Apples to Oranges, Navy SEALs are trained better for amphibious assaults and recon, Marine force recon will never be special forces, if everyone knows what they do, there not so "special" anymore. You can be a r****d and make it through marine corps basic, you need the mental attitude to earn the trident.

The only Force Recon Operators there are now are hard to find, some still go on missions, some are in the reserves. But by asking this question you have shown that you will have to work hard to get were you want to be. you don't have to have it physically, you just have to WANT IT!

kid, i could beat the **** out of 4-6 force recon's when i was getting in bar fights after BUD/S beating this **** out of these biker guys you were probably still sucking on mama's milk. I could find you, knowing your name is Brian, your last name starts with a C, I'd just call up my boys at the pentagon, find your IP from yahoo answers, but I wont. Your right about the SEALs and the Force Recons, but there are only 2500 SEALs, and 3 battalions of Recons. Think before you talk next time kid

  2. Seals have a longer training path; SEALS receive more initial training and are actual part of SOCOM.  Yes Marines are now working on having a SOCOM unit, but it is not Force Recon. Force Recon are will trained but not at the level of SEALS or Army Special Forces.

Brain, you are VERY WRONG AND HAVE NO UNDERSTANDING HOW IT WORKS.  You can get a contract for initial enlistment for SEALS, but you aren't a SEAL until you COMPLETE training which for most of those that try is never.  SEALS training has a high wash out rate.  The reason you can't get a contract for Marine Force Recon are much smaller and do things differently.

As far as qualification, Army SF, Navy Seals and Force Recon have similar qualifications.  Good physical, good back ground and high GT scores.

  3. Brian, actually, the deal is that while you can go right into it you will go thru a 6 month selection phase (BUD/S) then a 6 month basic operator course and in both of those you will shoot more than most Force Recon guys have there entire careers. You then will go thru a year and a half workup, again, getting a lot more trigger and school time and then finally do a deployment. Force is also going by the wayside, MARSOC is taking over as the Marine SpecOps Unit and one reason is that Force never got under the SOCOM umbrella and hence had fewer ops in the current war as well as funding, that has changed since they came under SOCOM. So, if you want to do DA, CT and other Missions, go the SEAL Route, if you want to do FID and stuff more akin to what the Recon Batts and Ranger Batts do then go MARSOC, but Force is pretty much done, they have great guys, good leaders but the way the system is set up MARSOC is the future in the Marine Corps.

Edit-There are not 2500 team guys yet, they are working towards that, we only have about 1800, the goal is 2500 but we have never reached that.

  4. Which is a better tool?

    A wrench or a saw?

Each Spec Ops group is very custom made for a certain mission and each have strengths in certain areas.

    So you really can't compare.

  5. I prefer Force Recon, but if you wanna be a SEAL, become a SEAL

and don't listen to these guys

    they're jerks
