Any tree with a shallow root system can cause problems if you are talking about your foundation.  Bald Cypress in my experience has been a culprit as well as cottonwoods.

Pine trees, both Yellow and Jeffery, can cause many problems.  I have cut them all down on my 4 acres.  About 350 in all.
