I can't in good conscience recommend either of those tv's to you. You really need to look at one of the following instead: Samsung 2007 HPT5064,Samsung 2008 PN50A550, or Panasonic 2008 TH50PX80u.

A TV is so much more than just a resolution and contrast ratio. All around Samsung and Panasonic just blow the other tv's away. Samsung uses the Ultra-Filterbright screen which cause the images to appear a lot brighter than the traditional glass used on plasma. Also, the processor used in both Samsung and Panasonic are capable of more color.

Also, with the availability of purchasing online, you won't spend that much more on these tvs
