Which TV programs are copyright protected? Is there a way to change your DVDR to record them anyway?

I want to buy a Philips DVDR3575H DVD recorder but I have read that there are some TV programs that are copyright protected. Does anyone have a list or know where to find a list of the programs that are copyright protected. If there are some programs I want to record that are protected, it may change my decision to buy a DVD recorder. Thanks to anyone who can help me with this information.

You will be able to copy any TV program to a DVD.

You may not be able to make copies of the resulting DVD.
