I have a Pioneer 50" Plasma TV with a max resolution of 1080p. And yet, my Xbox 360 will only go up to 1080i on the TV. Anyway........

  1. 1080p is full hd

  2. 1080p, the reason your xbox 360 will not is because no games have come out yet to support 1080p...if i were you...set it to 720p...that is better for fast action and motion...and 1080i is interlaced which means the picture is more sharp...but motions blur and are not as sharp as on 720p

  3. 1080 is 1080...the only difference is how the 1080 lines of information is delivered to the TV screen....

And guess what....plasmas don't  SCAN.. they are designed to change only the information that changes.frame by frame...

So....in effect both the 1080P and 1080i signals operate the same way on your TV set....

So ....I'd say don't worry about whether the signal

    is 1080 P or I

  4. if your flat panel is properly calibrated and supports 1080p go for it becides a 1080p screen supports 1080i to and yes btw its much clearer

  5. The pciture quality is the SAME, its the i & p stand for how the lines are being shown to you  its a different type. the "i" stands for interlaced and the p for progressive.

  6. This site will give you the pros and cons of each.
